American State Bank & Trust Co. of Williston, the Pat & Tammy (Davidson) Sogard family, and the Tom, Jr. & Laura Davidson family have made a combined $75,000 donation to resurface the tennis courts in Davidson Park, known as the Tom, Sr. & Shirley Davidson Tennis Complex. Accepting the $75,000 donation was Greg DeLorme, member of the fundraising committee and Williston Parks & Recreation Director Joe Barsh and other committee members including Nick Johnson and Jason DeLorme. The late Tom, Sr. and Shirley Davidson are the parents of Tammy (Davidson) Sogard and Tom Davidson, Jr.
The Bank’s history with the tennis complex goes back to 2009 when a reconstruction project began in Davidson Park. At that time, four existing courts were reconfigured into three regulation size courts, with an additional three regulation courts added. Divider fences, walkways, landscaping and other amenities were added as well. “Time and the elements have taken a toll on the surface of the courts and a refresh is in order,” said DeLorme.
“American State Bank & Trust is committed to keeping the outdoor courts in great shape. Public use of the courts, as well as competitive use by Williston Public School District 7 tennis teams, is an important feature of Davidson Park and the Bank intends to help keep the venue in great condition,” said ASB&T President/CEO Dave Hanson.
“Tom and Shirley felt the opportunity for outdoor recreation and sports was vital to the quality of life in the Williston community and the Davidson/Sogard families were proud to recognize them with the naming of the complex project in 2009 and will continue to honor them with this resurfacing project,” said ASB&T Chairman of the Board Pat Sogard.
